YS Jagan laid foundation stone for the construction of three 7-star hotel by the Oberoi Group of Hotels in Gandikota, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam

KADAPA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy laid a foundation stone for the construction of a 7-star hotel by the Oberoi Group of Hotels in Gandikota of Kadapa district on Sunday.

At a programme organised at Gandikota in Kadapa district, YS Jagan also virtually laid the foundation stone and unveiled the plaques for the two other 7-star hotels coming up in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam, along with Oberoi Group of Hotels managing director Vikram Singh Oberoi.

Three 7-star hotels would be constructed by the Oberoi Group at Gandikota, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Oberoi Group with the State Government at the Global Investors Summit held in Visakhapatnam in March this year.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the industrial sector in AP was progressing rapidly with investments from various companies. Gandikota Canyon had been an important part of Andhra Pradesh's history. "It is a very good sign that Oberoi Group has come forward to invest in Andhra Pradesh. Gandikota will be marked on the tourism map with the arrival of the star groups," YS Jagan said.

The Chief Minister said that around 1,000 people would be employed by Dixon Technologies in Koparthi. MoUs would be signed with several companies in Kopparthi on Monday, he said. Later, YS Jagan proceeded to Gandikota view point.

According to officials, the seven-star hotel at Tirupati would be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore and create employment for over 1,000 people. The resort would have all 7-star facilities and it would be the first of its kind to attract domestic and international tourists.

To give a big boost to the tourism sector in the pilgrim city, AP Tourism department had allotted 20 acres of land on a 90-year lease to Oberoi group on Alipiri–Zoo Park road. The 10-storey building would have 200 rooms, a swimming pool, and a helipad.

In Visakhapatnam, the 7-star hotel by the Oberoi Group would be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore on a 42-acre area belonging to the tourism department in the Annavaram coastal area under Bheemili mandal, a kilometre away from the proposed greenfield Bhogapuram International Airport.

Deputy Chief Minister Amzad Basha, ministers RK Roja and Audimulapu Suresh, Chief Secretary Dr KS Jawahar Reddy, Special Chief Secretary (Tourism Department) Rajat Bhargav, MP Avinash Reddy, MLAs and other public representatives were also present.
