YS Jagan opens India’s largest wood panel factory, slew of projects in YSR Kadapa district

KADAPA: On the first day of the three-day tour of YSR District, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated and laid foundation stone for a slew of projects in YSR Kadapa district on Saturday.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a Rs 1,000 crore worth plywood-panels manufacturing unit Centuryply Panels Limited in the Gopavaram Industrial Park near Badvel by unveiling the plaque. The Company had employed as many 2,266 persons while providing indirect employment to tens of thousands of farmers and others.

After inaugurating the MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and HPL (High Pressure Laminate) units in the campus, YS Jagan interacted with company chairman, officials and staff members. In a causal interaction, the Chief Minister observed that the unit was yet another milestone in the industrial growth journey of the district.

The Century industrial unit, for which the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone two years ago, was ready to commence commercial production. The unit was established in an extent of 100 acres given to the company on a 33-year lease. The company manufactures plywood panels from the Jam Oil wood for which 25,000 farmers grew Jam Oil trees in an area of 80,000 acres. The company had completed agreements with farmers on the cultivation of Jam Oil trees and also provided the saplings on subsidy.

The Chief Minister later inaugurated the YSR Super Speciality Hospital built on the 230-acre RIMS (Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences) complex in Kadapa. It included a medical, dental and nursing colleges constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore, 452-bed super speciality wing at an estimated cost of Rs 125 crore, 100-bed YSR Institute of Mental Health at a cost of Rs 40.81 crore and 100-bed YSR Cancer Care Block at a cost of Rs 107 crore.

Later, YS Jagan inaugurated the flood lights arranged in the YS Raja Reddy Cricket Stadium, the modernised District Collectorate Complex and the Ambedkar, Y Junction, Koti Reddy and the Seven Roads Circles here. He also distributed tri-scooters to the differently-abled persons.

YSR District in-charge and Minister Audimulapu Suresh, Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha, MP YS Avinash Reddy, MLCs P Ramasubba Reddy, C Ramachandraiah, M Ramachandra Reddy, MLA Ravindranath Reddy and local people’s representatives accompanied Chief Minister during his visit.
