TIRUPATI: Watchman Ranganna, a key eyewitness in YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, was on Thursday being shifted to Hyderabad in a special ambulance. He was admitted to the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) in Tirupati after he fell sick on Tuesday. Until the authorities decided to shift him to Hyderabad, he was treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) of SVIMS.

According to police, Ranganna, who was the watchman of slain former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy in Pulivendula, is reportedly suffering from an unspecified respiratory disease. Though the reasons for his sudden shifting to Hyderabad were not disclosed, it is being speculated that the authorities took the decision as a precautionary measure after weighing in security aspects and the sensitivities involved in the murder case.

He is likely to be admitted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad. The SVIMS authorities remained tightlipped both on the reasons for Ranganna’s shifting to Hyderabad and the details of medicare provided to him so far. Ranganna, believed to be a crucial eyewitness to YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, holds the key for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in cracking the case.

The news of Ranganna taking ill comes close on the heels of the CBI intensifying its investigation into the case. Recently, the SIT officials of the CBI have inspected a few houses in Pulivendula including that of Krishna Reddy, the personal assistant of YS Vivekananda Reddy. It is believed that the agency might opt to question Ranganna once again before taking its investigation to a logical end.
