HYDERABAD: YS Bhaskar Reddy, the father of Kadapa YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy, on Tuesday filed a writ petition in the Telangana High Court challenging the CBI decision naming Dastagiri as an approver in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case. Dastagiri is an A-4 accused in the case.

Both YS Bhaskar Reddy, the brother of YS Vivekananda Reddy, and YS Avinash Reddy have been questioned a few times by the CBI, based on Dastagiri’s statement in the case. Bhaskar Reddy, in his petition, felt that it was not appropriate on the part of the CBI to implicate him and his son in the case, merely based on the confessional statement given by Dastagiri.

Harping on their accusation that the A-4 accused was giving his statement just as directed by the CBI, he claimed that Dastagiri played the key role in the killing of YS Vivekananda Reddy. It was not right to grant the bail to a person with questionable antecedents, he said.

YS Bhaskar Reddy further claimed that it was Dastagiri who purchased the weapon that had become very crucial in the sensational murder case. The CBI has extended its tacit support at the time of Dastagiri’s bail while the lower court did not pay heed to the evidence stacked against him, he alleged.

He appealed to the Telangana High Court to order the cancellation of the bail granted to Dastagiri.
