AMARAVATI: The officials, responding to the Jana Sena party president and actor Pawan Kalyan's claims, moved the statue of YS Rajasekhar Reddy in Ippatam village of Guntur district on Monday. Using a crane, they moved the statue from its place.

The Jana Sena chief, who visited the village on Saturday, questioned the Andhra Pradesh Government for sparing the YSR statue during a demolition drive. A sacred Nandi statue and a PV Narasimha statue were removed during the demolition works carried out in the village while the YSR statue was guarded with fences amid police protection, he alleged.

The actor, who went around the places where demolitions were taken up in Ippatam, claimed that the villagers were targeted by the YSRCP Government since they allowed the Jana Sena earlier to organise a public meeting in their lands.

The State Government authorities have been demolishing structures constructed on encroached lands to facilitate road-widening works in Ippatam village of Tadepalli mandal.
