YSRCP might field Vidadala Rajani for Narsaraopet MP seat, tussle with Krishna Devarayulu on anvil
With the Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu resigning from the YSRCP alleging political uncertainty, the party is said to have zeroed in on health minister Vidadala Rajani
GUNTUR: The politics in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh are fast changing as the elections are nearing. With the Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu resigning from the YSRCP alleging political uncertainty and confusion within the party leadership in Narasaraopet, the party is said to have zeroed in on health minister Vidadala Rajani as an effective alternative.
If Krisha Devarayalu joins the TDP and contests from Narsaraopet then the YSRCP will require a strong candidate to stem the rot that set in the Narsaraopet YSRCP cadre. The ruling party is said to have opted for the lady-Minister to keep its flock together. Belonging to the same district both Vidadala and Krishna Devaraya won't see eye to eye and their difference are well-known in the region.

The TDP is determined to wrench back the crucial Narsaraopet seat at the gateway of ‘Palnadu’ benefiting from the internal rift of YSRCP. In 2014 Rayapati Sambasiva Rao of the TDP was elected from this seat. In 2009 Modugula Venugopala Reddy, Kota Saidaiah in 1996, and Katuri Narayana Swamy in 1984 won the seat for the TDP.
However, the Congress dominated the affairs in this LS constituency with Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy winning the seat in 2004, Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy in 1999, Konijeti Rosaiah in 1998, Kasu Venakta Krisha Reddy in 1991and Kasu Brahmaanda Reddy in 1980.
Devarayalu contested from the YSRCP in the 2019 elections and won from Narasaraopet. However, with Chief Minister YS Jagan making changes to constituencies, it was suggested that Devarayalu should contest from Guntur instead of Narasaraopet. He however decided to stick to Narasaraopet and has been unhappy since then.
