VIJAYAWADA: The YSRCP announced the fifth list of candidates for Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies on Wednesday. With this, the ruling party has announced the names of 65 candidates so far.

Minister Botsa Satyanarayana and party’s State general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy announced the names of the candidates at the party’s headquarters in Tadepalli on Wednesday. The fifth list includes candidates for four Parliamentary and three MLA segments. Going by the trend in all its previous lists, the YSRCP has dropped three out of four sitting MPs and all three MLAs from the list.

As per the new contenders for Parliament, Sunil Chalamalasetty would contest from the Kakinada MP seat and Simhadri Ramesh Babu from Machilipatnam MP seat. Interestingly, former Nellore City MLA and Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav has been asked to contest as MP from Narasaraopet. MP Maddila Gurumurthy has been given the ticket to contest from Tirupati again though he was earlier named as Sathyavedu MLA candidate who had refused to contest for the Parliament seat.

In the Satyavedu Assembly constituency, sitting MLA Koneti Adimulam who has been back and forth on qutting the party has been dropped and replaced by Nookathoti Rajesh, another new comer. In Avanigadda, Dr Simhadri Chandrasekhar Rao has been given an MLA ticket.

In an interesting move, YSRCP regional coordinator Vijaysai Reddy has been given the additional responsibility of Guntur Parliamentary Constituency as Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy has been appointed as regional coordinator for Ongole Parliamentary constituency and Kandukur, Santhanuthalapadu and Kavali Assembly constituencies.
