All gates of Polavaram project lifted

AMARAVATI: Officials opened all the 48 gates of the Polavaram project releasing over 15 lakh cusecs downstream.

This is the first time in the history of 100 years that Godavari is witnessing such a heavy flood in the month of July.

Godavari water level reached 34.10 meters at Polavaram spillway whereas it was recorded at 34.7 meters during the entire season last year.

With the red alert and continuous rains in coastal areas, the Godavari was overflowing with floodwater.
