NELLORE: Former minister and YSRCP MLA Anam Ramanarayana Reddy fumed at the Dargamitta police on Thursday for allegedly detaining the Sri Venugopala Swamy temple trustees over demolition of illegal constructions.

Upon learning that the temple officials were detained for more than three hours in the station, he reached the police station and questioned Circle Inspector Sitaramaiah as to why they had detained temple officials.

However, as the police didn't respond, the MLA didn't leave the police station asking the higher officials to respond. Meanwhile, ASP Himavathi held talks with Anam Ramnarayana Reddy and tried to pacify him.

Sri Venugopala Swamy temple authorities have demolished a construction where a tribal family was running a tiffin centre. With the complaint lodged by a tribal woman with the Dargamitta police, they registered a case against the chairman of the temple trust and manager and detained them.

The MLA expressed concern over the safety of the temple lands and demanded action against the officials who are cooperating with them.
