Bears cause panic in Srikakulam district

AMARAVATI: A bear and her cubs have caused panic in Vajrapukotturu mandal of Srikakulam district as they entered a fast food shop in Chinavanka village on Monday.

Recently, bears had killed three persons and injured another three in the same region after which the government was taking steps to protect the villagers.

However, the bears entering the fast food centre has left people worried.

Luckily, the centre was not open thereby averting any untoward incident.

The villagers believe that the risk of bear attacks was reduced but not completely eliminated. They appeal for fool-proof measures from the forest authorities and the State Government to ensure their safety by pre-empting any attacks in future.
