The torrential rains over the last two months wreaked havoc resulting in massive floods in Andhra Pradesh. Most of the villages, especially the 'lanka gramalu' (island villages) of Konaseema district were completely submerged, disrupting normal life. In addition to State Government funds, the Central Government also provided interim assistance to temporarily mitigate the crisis.

On August 10 and 11, the Central teams will tour the Alluri Sitaramaraju, BR Ambedkar Konaseema and Eluru districts. The two teams will also meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on the night of August 11 before their return to Delhi on August 12.

Disaster Management MD BR Ambedkar said that the central team comprised Dr K Manoharan, Shravan Kumar Singh, P Devender Rao, M Murugunathan and Arvind Kumar Soni.
