Cloth size of school uniforms, stitching price to increase: AP education

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday directed Education Department officials to take immediate action on reports from village secretariats on various school-related issues. He also directed them to improve the quality of food served to Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme students.

The Chief Minister gave the authorities instructions during a review meeting of the Education Department held here on Thursday to take action to include Byjus e-content in text books for classes 4 through 10 in addition to uploading it on tablets being distributed to pupils.

In response to an official briefing that 1.5 lakh tabs out of a total of 5,18,740 tabs intended to be supplied to 8th grade students and teachers have already arrived for distribution, the Chief Minister stated that they should be ready for uploading the content once all the tabs are ready. He emphasised the importance of providing content in the form of hard copies as well.

In light of the digitization of classrooms, he emphasised the importance of providing broadband access to all schools, while also agreeing to increase the cloth size of school uniforms. Stitching fees will also rise from Rs.40 to Rs.50 per pair.

Officials told the Chief Minister that Rs. 1120 crores have been released so far in the current fiscal year to explain the extent of facilities provided in schools under the second phase of the Nadu-Nedu scheme.

The department is preparing to distribute Jagananna Vidyakanuka kits for the academic year 2023-24 by April of next year. He was informed that the process of soliciting bids for work under the Nadu-Nedu scheme had already begun.

The Chief Minister bemoaned the politicisation of government decisions, despite the fact that we are attempting to bring about revolutionary changes in the education, medical, and agricultural sectors. Officials must work hard to implement government policies while overcoming negative propaganda.
