AMARAVATI: In a tragic incident, five persons were killed when their car crashed into a lorry from behind near Kambham of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased were the residents of Sirigiripadu of Veldurthi mandal falling under Palnadu district.

Reportedly, they were travelling from Machela to Tirumala for a darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara when the mishap happened. The deceased were identified as Ammireddy (60), Guravamma (60), Ananthamma (55), Adilakshmi (58) and Nagireddy (24).

Upon receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the local government hospital for autopsy. A case was registered and investigation is on.
