GVL urges Railway Minister to expedite the SCoR Zone creation

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao on Friday met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and urged him to take immediate steps to implement the new South Coast Railway Zone with Visakhapatnam as the main hub, which has been approved as the people's dream project. In his letter, MP GVL stated that the people of Visakha are eagerly awaiting the establishment of a new railway zone.

The Railway Minister has assured MP GVL Narasimha Rao of the availability of both land and funds for the construction of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zonal Headquarters Office Complex in Visakhapatnam.

Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the designer of this new zone, MP GVL Narasimha Rao asked the Railway Minister to have him lay the foundation of the new SCoR Zonal Headquarters Office Complex as soon as possible. The Railway Minister promised that he would make the request after learning the dates of the Prime Minister's upcoming trips to Andhra Pradesh.

The MP expressed happiness over the meeting with the Railway Minister, saying that the latter was ready to start the railway zone soon and that the people of Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh's dream would come true soon.

GVL stated that he would request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Visakhapatnam soon to launch the Rs 400-crore Visakhapatnam railway station modernization project, the IIM Visakhapatnam first phase modern campus, HPCL's Rs 22,000 crore expansion and modernization project, and many other projects such as a cruise terminal and a mega fishing harbour.

He added that all of the development seen in Visakhapatnam is the result of central government projects, and the BJP is working to raise public awareness.
