Jagan wants 10 foreign-aided projects of Rs. 26,000 Cr to be fast-tracked

AMARAVATI: Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy asked officials to expedite the works of all External Aided Projects (EAP), which were worth Rs 25,497.28 crores, on Friday,
The projects were coming with the aid of New Development Bank (NDB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JAICA), World Bank and KFB.
He also asked officials to link the lakes of the arid lands of Rayalaseema, Prakasam and north coastal Andhra to be linked with tanks. Tanks should be marked according to each constituency and water should flow by gravity from the lakes to result in a significant swell of groundwater levels, he said.
The land under the tanks could be irrigated, giving scope for sustainable employment and income opportunities. This subject should be taken up after a comprehensive study and implemented with the aid of financial agencies like the World Bank, the Chief Minister said to the officials.
Jagan also said that the works on bridges, ROBs, flyovers should be completed on a priority basis. With Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam and Bhavanapadu ports coming up, there would be development around and creating a land bank was essential to enable the port-based economy to develop, he said.
