Kalayanamasthu, Shadi Thofa from October 1 in AP, Jagan fulfills 98.4 pc promises

AMRAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh Government will implement YSR Kalayanamasthu and Shadi Thofa schemes from October 1 this year. With this, the YSCP Government led by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy will complete 98.44 percent of its election promises.

A GO has been issued stating that all groups would have access to the facility, including construction employees, SC, ST, BC, and Minorities.

The monetary assistance is higher than what the previous government had first promised but was unable to completely fulfil. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who treats manifesto like a holy book, has approved Rs 1 lakh each under the Kalyanamasthu for SCs and Rs 1.2 lakh for inter-caste marriages with SCs. While the amounts for BCs will be Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 75,000, the percentage for SCs will remain the same. Minorities will get Rs. 1 lakh while people with disabilities will be paid Rs. 1.5 lakh and construction workers will get Rs 40,000.

The prior administration, citing various justifications, failed to pay the requisite Rs 68.68 crores for the initiative and failed to carry out the programme in a proper manner. The former administration paid Rs 40,000 for SCs, Rs 75,000 for inter-caste marriages with SCs, Rs 50,000 for STs and Rs 75,000 for STs, respectively. An amount of Rs 50,000 was paid to Minorities, Rs 1 lakh for physically challenged people and only Rs 20,000 for construction workers.

The the disbursal of monetary benefits under the scheme will be implemented through village and ward secretariats and the age criterion set for bride and groom is 18 and above and 21 and above, respectively.
