GURAJALA (AP): A dispute over illegal mining at Nadikudi led to clashes between two groups of the ruling YSR Congress Party, causing tension in Gurajala of Palanadu district of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

According to information, the two factions owing allegiance to Vaddera Corporation Chairperson Devalla Revathi and Ramesh Reddy, a follower of Gurajala MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy had a heated altercation over the illegal mining issue. The two warring groups soon clashed with each other causing tension in the area. Both the factions of the ruling party have been locked in a turf war locally for quite some time.

Later, Revathi, along with his supporters launched into a spontaneous sit-in in protest accusing the police of extending their tacit support to Ramesh Reddy and his group. She also expressed fears of a threat to her life from Ramesh Reddy's faction.
