NRI doctors to bring reforms in AP healthcare, AAPI's summit in January 2023

VISAKHAPATNAM: The 16th Annual Global Healthcare Summit of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) will be organised from January 6-8, 2023 in Vishakhapatnam.

The goup of NRI doctors from the USA called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Sunday and pledged their support in various ways to the State Government for bringing revolutionary reforms in healthcare.

President of AAPI Dr Ravi Kolli invited the Chief Minister to attend the summit Also, Dr. Prakash Kabbur briefed about the objectives of Train and Help a Baby Organization (TAHB) aimed at limiting neonatal mortality.

Dr. Ravi Kolli briefed about the Summit's aim, which was to raise awareness of key health care issues affecting the Indian subcontinent such as Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, Women's and Children's Health, Infectious Diseases and Mental Health. Highlight of this Summit was to reaffirm NRI Physicians' commitment towards improving health care and create model programs for management of various diseases and to improve outcomes universally.

They would also be focusing on mental health, reduce the stigma for seeking mental health advices, working on Physicians burnout. Further, Dr Ravi pointed out that AAPI Physicians were showing interest to work under Jagan's administration to make AP a model state in development especially in the areas of Health Care. Tele Consultations, Training the Trainer sessions, learning modules for different specialities etc. would be supported by AAPI Physicians.

Dr. Prakash, the Founder and President of this voluntary organization, which was working to reduce the neonatal mortality through prevention, treatment and follow up. TAHB is supporting the other southern states and came forward to support the Government of AP and to be a part of the state government's healthcare initiatives.

TAHB carried out Maternal and Child Health Programs of which Neo Natal Healthcare was the primarily focussed on. TAHB works with teaching institutions, primary health centers etc. and collectively improved the healthcare delivery and outcomes. It also provided equipment and support which were necessary for dealing with high risk pregnancies and critically ill new-borns.

The Chief Minister evinced interest in taking NRI Doctors and NRI Associations expertise and support to train the medical staff at village clinics, Primary Health Centers, Mid-Level Health Providers as well as the teaching institutions who would get the necessary understanding which could be used while dealing with high risk pregnancies and critically ill new-borns.

Jagan suggested that more than 15,000 AASA workers could be oriented through virtual sessions on continued education to improve the skills at grass root level to assist the patients. NRI doctors team also called on and expressed special note of thanks to Minister for Health Vidadala Rajini,Naveen Kumar IAS, Spl Secretary Health, Medical and Family Welfare for readily coming forward to welcome and support NRI Doctors towards Health initiatives of AP Government.
