Paytm partners with AP, to provide PoS devices under 'Fish Andhra'

AMARAVATI: One97 Communications Limited (OCL) that owns the brand Paytm, India's largest digital payments and financial services company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Department of Fisheries, Government of Andhra Pradesh to provide Paytm Point of Sale (PoS) devices at the State's Aqua Hubs and retail outlets under the "Fish Andhra" scheme on Tuesday.

The State government was setting up 100 Aqua Hubs as a part of its plan to promote the sale of all aqua and marine products in coastal regions.

With this partnership, Paytm and Andhra Pradesh State Fishermen Cooperative Societies Federation Limited (AFCOF), Paytm PoS devices would be deployed at over 2,000 outlets in the first phase. Using Paytm PoS devices, merchants in the state would be able to digitize their businesses and offer their customers flexibility of payments with Paytm Wallet, Paytm UPI, Paytm Postpaid, net banking, debit and credit cards and more.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Seediri Appalaraju, said, "This partnership with Paytm will help digitize the Aqua Hubs and retailer network to drive financial inclusion in the unorganized sector. Blue economy is one of the untapped sectors in the state and has enormous potential for growth. With "Fish Andhra", we aim to not just increase the production but also the consumption of aqua and other marine products in the state."

Andhra Pradesh Special Chief Secretary Fisheries Dr. Poonam Malakondaiah, said, "The partnership with Paytm will empower new entrepreneurs under the "Fish Andhra" initiative by helping them digitize their businesses. The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has identified Fisheries sector as one of the engines of growth for the state. With "Fish Andhra", the government wants to make the state Aquaculture capital of India."

Paytm will enable consumers to make digital payments seamlessly at the Aqua Hubs and retail outlets in the state. Paytm All-in-One POS, with its innovative features, helps in faster processing of payments and presents affordable features. The merchants would have access to the powerful dashboard that would give them a multi-level view of daily transactions. They could also avail of numerous business services and financial solutions such as loans, insurance, and digital ledger.
