YS Vijayamma to attend YSRCP plenary as honorary president

The decision on her stepping down would be taken after the plenary

HYDERABAD: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) 's senior leader Ummareddy Venkateswarulu said, on Wednesday, that Honorary President YS Vijayamma would attend the plenary. He scotched off the rumours that she would be stepping down from the position of Honorary President.

The decision on her stepping down would be taken after the plenary which was scheduled for July 8 and 9, first time after the party came into power in 2017.

The YSRCP would discuss various issues and formulate strategies for the next Assembly elections.

The party would also be making important decisions on the next party President. In the wake of changing equations, Party Chief and Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy was likely to be nominated as the permanent president following which Vijayamma would also automatically become the permanent honorary president.

It is learned that after the Prime Minister's visit to Andhra Pradesh on July 4, Jagan would review the party's plenary management, arrangements, and resolutions. The plenary session would discuss whether the promises made by the Government in the previous elections were delivered.

The two-day plenary had a 15-point agenda to come up with resolutions. In the plenary, Jagan will also deliver keynote addresses at the beginning and end of the session.

YSRCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy said that their slogan for the 2024 elections would be "Kick Babu out and serve the people". Overseeing the plenary arrangements, he said the last time the plenary was held in 2017 and could not be held again due to the pandemic.

General Secretary of the YSRCP Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that the party would chalk out a plan at the plenary for next elections. He said this would not just be a plenary session related to the party and that there would be a comprehensive discussion on moving forward with people's agenda. Sajjala also said that every leader from the lowest level would be given an invitation letter signed by Jagan.
