HYDERABAD: Chiyaan Vikram, the versatile and highly acclaimed actor, has once again showcased his exceptional talent in his recent film 'Ponniyan Selvan,' earning widespread appreciation from his fans and the audience. However, amidst the positive response, there has been some criticism directed at Vikram for allegedly declining Anurag Kashyap's upcoming movie 'Kennedy,' which recently premiered its teaser at the Cannes Film Festival.

This controversy has prompted the talented actor to address and clarify the situation.

Anurag Kashyap had revealed that he named his latest film "Kennedy" after Chiyaan Vikram, as he had the actor in mind while writing the script. After completing the script, Kashyap reached out to Vikram, but unfortunately, he never received a response.

Bollywood fans expressed disappointment and criticized the actor for turning down the film, while South Indian fans showed their appreciation, pointing out that Vikram's previous movies like "Aparachithudu," "Cobra," and "Mahaan" shared a similar genre and vibe.

However, Vikram surprised everyone by stating that he never received Anurag's email in the first place.

In a statement posted on his social media page, Vikram addressed Anurag Kashyap directly, saying, "Dear Anurag Kashyap! Just revisiting our conversation from over a year ago for the sake of our friends and well-wishers on social media. When I heard from another actor that you had tried to reach me for this film and that you felt I hadn't responded to you, I called you myself immediately and explained that I hadn't received any mail or message from you. The email address you contacted me on was no longer active, and my phone number had changed almost two years prior to that. As I said during that phone call, I'm very excited about your film 'Kennedy,' especially because it carries my name."

With this clarification, Vikram has proven that he did not intentionally decline the film but rather, a miscommunication occurred. The controversy surrounding Vikram's alleged rejection has inadvertently brought significant attention and fame to the film 'Kennedy,' surpassing the impact of its teaser premiere at Cannes.

Kennedy features Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in the lead roles.
