HYDERABAD: We rarely see Indian films getting nominated for prestigious Oscar awards. In 95 years, only eight Indian films managed to get nominated for the Academy Awards. Only one of them won the Academy Award. Three films from the list are competing in this year's Oscars race. Meanwhile, here is a look at the IMDb ratings of all these Oscar-nominated Indian films.

8. All That Breathes - Rating: 7

Directed by Shaunak Sen, All That Breathes is a documentary that revolves around the lives of two brothers in Delhi who are on a mission of saving the endangered bird species, Black Kites. All That Breathes is competing in the Best Documentary Feature category this year. It has an IMDb rating of 7.

7. Writing With Fire - Rating: 7.3

Writing With Fire is a political documentary which is directed by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh. It explores the story of Khabar Lahariya, India's only newspaper which is run by Dalit Women. It was nominated in the Best Documentary Feature category last year but failed to win the Oscar. It has an IMDb rating of 7.3.

6. The Elephant Whisperers - Rating: 7.3

This beautiful film has been nominated for the Best Documentary Short award this year. This documentary follows the life of Bomman and Bellie, a couple in Tamil Nadu, whose primary occupation is to raise baby elephants. It has an IMDb rating of 7.3.

Mother India is the first Indian film to get nominated for the Academy Awards. It lost the Best Foreign Language Film award by just one vote, back in 1958. It has an IMDb rating of 7.8.

The second Indian film to be nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category, in 1989. It deals with the lives of people in Bombay's slum areas. It has an IMDb rating of 7.9.

2. RRR - Rating: 7.9

This is an action epic directed by SS Rajamouli. This film's song, Naatu Naatu, has been nominated for Best Original Song at the upcoming Oscars. RRR has an IMDb rating of 7.9.

1. Lagaan - Rating: 81.

With an IMDb rating of 8.1, Aamir Khan's Lagaan is at the top of this list. Lagaan was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category in 2002. But it couldn't win the award.
