If there is no Baahubali, there is no Ponniyin Selvan

HYDERABAD: Renowned filmmaker Mani Ratnam expressed his gratitude to director SS Rajamouli for making his upcoming film "Ponniyin Selvan" possible. During a promotional event in Hyderabad, Ratnam acknowledged Rajamouli's blockbuster film "Baahubali" for paving the way for historical films like "Ponniyin Selvan" to be made in multiple parts.

Ratnam thanked Subaskaran, the producer of "Ponniyin Selvan," for making the film possible. He then expressed his gratitude to Rajamouli, stating that if "Baahubali" had not been made in two parts, "Ponniyin Selvan" would not have been made either. Ratnam had previously conveyed this appreciation to Rajamouli personally as well.

Furthermore, Ratnam credited Rajamouli for creating a path for the entire industry to venture into historical projects. He stated that "Baahubali" had given confidence to filmmakers and opened up opportunities for Indian history to be converted into films.

Ratnam's comments highlight the impact of "Baahubali" on the Indian film industry, not only in terms of its massive success at the box office but also in inspiring and enabling the production of ambitious historical films like "Ponniyin Selvan."

Ponniyin Selvan - 1 has become a big hit across the globe and the second part of the movie is now gearing up for a grand release on 28th April, 2023.
