India is sending the wrong films to the Oscars - AR Rahman
Meanwhile, Rahman also shared his views about Indian films not getting nominated in the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars
HYDERABAD: RRR became the pride of Indian cinema by winning an Oscar recently. The film's song Naatu Naatu won Best Original Song at the Academy Awards. Music director MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose were presented with the Oscar awards. Another Oscar winner AR Rahman congratulated RRR's team on this historic win.
Meanwhile, Rahman also shared his views about Indian films not getting nominated in the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars. Speaking in a recent interview, Rahman said that the wrong films are often sent to the Oscars from India.
"I have to be in the westerner’s shoes to see what’s happening here. I have to be in my shoes to see what they are doing," Rahman went on to add. Rahman was the first Indian to win an Oscar. He won Academy Awards for Best Original Music and Best Original Song in 2009 for the film Slumdog Millionaire.
Rahman is currently awaiting the release of his next film Ponniyin Selvan part 2. Directed by Mani Ratnam, this film will hit the screens on April 28. Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai and Trisha play the lead roles in it.
