'Jalsa' proves supremacy over 'Pokiri'

'Power Star' Pawan Kalyan & 'Superstar' Mahesh Babu are two such stars of Telugu cinema that one would compare them to the following, craze and reputation that was once enjoyed by stars NTR & ANR. Like every other star, they both too had a stale phase in their life where they couldn't make even a decent hit at the box office after delivering blockbusters.

It was during that phase, that two films, 'Jalsa' & 'Pokiri' hit the screen and they went on to become chart busters and blockbusters that would be remembered & celebrated even after almost two decades of their releases. Recently the trend of re-mastering & re-releasing the classic films has been taking part and the two films have been restored to commemorate the birthdays of the respective stars.

Although the films were released only to celebrate, surprising they have recorded huge numbers at the box office.

According to the sources, 'Jalsa' collected approx Rs 1.2 Cr from the Nizam, Rs 26 lakh from Uttarandhra, Rs 21 lakh from Krishna, Rs 14 lakh from West Godavari, and Rs 10 lakh from Nellore. The total from 2.35 crore and the gross worldwide is around 3.20 crore. While 'Pokiri' collected Rs. 1.73 Crores in over 375 shows. 'Jalsa' managed to beat 'Pokiri' by a double margin, which itself created a new record.
