June starts off on a disappointing note in Tollywood
After disappointing May and April, the trade circles pinned heavy hopes on June
HYDERABAD: 2023 summer is turning out to be a nightmare for Telugu cinema. Barring Virupaksha, none of the Telugu films managed to strike gold at the box office in the last two months. After disappointing May and April, the trade circles pinned heavy hopes on June.
On June 2nd, three straight Telugu films, Pareshan, Nenu Student Sir and Ahimsa, hit the theatres. None of these movies got a unanimous positive talk. Pareshan is a black comedy and is getting mixed talk from the audience. Many people criticized it for its wafer-thin storyline and lack of strong conflict. As there are no notable faces, this movie may find it difficult to earn a good amount in theatres.
Bellamkonda Sreenivas's younger brother Bellamkonda Ganesh's second film Nenu Student Sir has received a negative response from the audience. It was slammed for its outdated story and age-old screenplay.
Daggubati scion Abhiram made his acting debut with Ahimsa, directed by Teja. This is yet another outdated and lethargic drama which disappointed viewers badly. On the whole, June started on a disappointing note and we have to see if the next week's releases manage to do well at the box office.
