The Hindi film industry is in a rough phase post the COVID-19 pandemic. None of its big-budget films is able to click well at the box office. Only a few exceptions, like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, managed to do well in theatres.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut-starrer Dhaakad ended up as a colossal disaster. According to the trade reports, Dhaakad managed to collect only Rs. 3 crores in its lifetime run and incurred losses of over Rs. 78 crores. With these huge losses, Dhaakad has now become one of the biggest disasters in the history of Hindi Cinema.

Apparently, the film was made on a budget of Rs. 85 crores, including the print and publicity costs. In the end, it didn't even manage to collect 10% of its budget. It seems that the producers got a share of only Rs. 2 crores from the film. We hear that even the satellite and digital rights, which are unsold as of now, will go for very low prices.

Directed by Razneesh Ghai, Dhaakad features Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta in the other key roles. It is bankrolled by Sohum Rockstar Entertainment, Sohel Maklai Productions, and Asylum Films.
