Nikhil Siddhartha missed a golden opportunity. The team of his upcoming film Karthikeya 2 is regretting for pushing the release date to August 12 from July 22. Initially, Karthikeya 2 was slated for release on July 22. To avoid a clash with Naga Chaitanya's Thank You, the makers pushed it to August 12.

Meanwhile, Thank You ended up as the biggest disaster in Chaitanya's career. It failed to earn a share of Rs.3 crores during the release weekend. Many shows are being cancelled in multiplexes due to the lack of audience. Ranbir Kapoor's Bollywood biggie Shamshera also hit the screens on July 22. Even it ended up as a disaster. It is termed one of the biggest flops of this year in Hindi.

Karthikeya 2 has a decent buzz. If it had been released last Friday, it would have earned well as both of its competitors failed at the box office. Now, it is hitting the screens on August 12, clashing with Nithiin's Macharla Niyojakavargam and Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha.

Macharla Niyojakavargam also created a buzz with its item song. The film seems to have targeted the mass audience and is expected to get good openings for sure. On the other side, Aamir is releasing Laal Singh Chaddha in Tamil and Telugu, along with Hindi. He brought Chiranjeevi to present the Telugu version. This ensures a wide release in the Telugu states.

Meanwhile, Nikhil is trying to promote Karthikeya 2 uniquely by making cameo appearances in TV serials. The industry pundits have opined that the makers of Karthikeya 2 have to make aggressive promotions in order to handle the competition. Already, they lost a golden chance and now, they have no other option than to promote the film on an aggressive scale.
