Megastar Chiranjeevi's upcoming projects have garnered significant attention, with announcements of two new films.
Megastar Chiranjeevi's upcoming projects have garnered significant attention, with announcements of two new films. One of these films is set to be produced by his daughter, Sushmita Konidela, and is expected to be released next year. However, there are reports that this project has been called off. Additionally, Chiranjeevi announced his participation in a fantasy Telugu film, tentatively titled "Mega157," to be directed by Mallidi Vassishta. But there seems to be an issue with regard to the film's story.
The latest developments hint that legal concerns might surround "Mega157." The film was said to be inspired by the 1990 classic Telugu fantasy film "Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari" (JVAS), which starred Chiranjeevi and Sridevi and was directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. Vyjayanthi Movies, the production house behind JVAS, released a public notice expressing their rights over the film and its content.
In their statement, Vyjayanthi Movies asserted, "Unauthorized use of our film #JagadekaVeeruduAthilokaSundari and its content will result in legal action." They emphasized that they are the exclusive copyright owners and producers of JVAS, along with its intellectual property rights, story rights, and character rights.
The notice states that Vyjayanthi Movies is the sole entity with the right to produce derivative works, including remakes, sequels, prequels, web series, and more, based on JVAS. They asserted their exclusive rights over the film and its underlying works for the full term of copyright worldwide, as allowed by applicable laws.
It remains to be seen how these legal concerns will affect the production of "Mega157" and whether there will be discussions between the parties involved.
