HYDERABAD: Netflix is the most subscribed OTT platform in the world. But when it comes to India, the case is different. Due to its high price cap, Netflix failed to get a good user base in our country. The situation is even worse down the South.

As Netflix produces Hindi content predominantly, South Indian audiences don't prefer subscribing to the platform. Realising this trend, Netflix started doing South Indian originals and also roped in South Indian stars for a few series and films. In Telugu, it made Pitta Kathalu, which ended up as a disaster.

Later, it announced Rana Naidu, starring Telugu heroes Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati. This series was released a few days ago. Initially, everyone thought it was an action drama. Even the trailer suggested the same.

Venkatesh is known for his family-oriented films. Whenever he is coming up with a new release, people try to watch it along with their families. This time, he came up with his own nephew Rana. So, the excitement was higher.

But everyone was shocked after watching the series. It was filled with cuss words and objectionable intimate scenes. People didn't expect this kind of series from Venkatesh. As a result, Rana Naidu got poor reviews from both critics as well as the audience.

Netflix tried to expand its base in Telugu states by using Venky's stardom. But the plan backfired. Instead of getting good reviews, it got bad feedback. Though Rana Naidu brought good views on the first two days, it will eventually end up as a big flop for Netflix. Thus, Netflix's flop show in Telugu states continues even after Rana Naidu.
