HYDERABAD: Sensational music composer A.R.Rahman made history when he became the first Indian to win a Golden Globe for “Jai Ho,” after which “Slumdog Millionaire”, the movie for which Rahman composed music, went on to make further history, winning 8 Oscars out of 10 nominations including “Best Original Score” for A.R.Rahman again, “Best Sound Mixing” for Resul Pookutty, Best Director and Best Picture as well. Slumdog Millionaire wasn’t produced in India, but it was shot in India by many Indian actors like Anil Kapoor.

Now, something similar might be brewing up for India as “RRR” created history by winning the “Best Original Song” for its tappy number “Naatu Naatu,” composed by MM Keeravani. So, will the same sentiment work out again? Will “RRR” also win an Oscar after winning a Golden Globe?

“RRR” was not India’s official entry to the Oscars this year, but the makers of RRR took a different route and made it to the contention list. The film had been submitted for consideration in several categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Visual Effects, among others.

In the Original Song category, RRR is racing, and it still has a chance to bag nominations in the other major categories, including Best Picture and Best Director. Indians worldwide eagerly await 24th January, when the final nomination list will be announced. The Oscars are going to be held on 12th March 2023.
