Renowned Malayalam actor Prathap Pothen passed away this morning in Chennai. He was found dead in his apartment in Chennai.

Renowned Malayalam actor Prathap Pothen passed away this morning in Chennai. He was found dead in his apartment in Chennai. He was 69. In a career spanning over 44 years, Prathap acted in more than 100 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Prathap made his debut with the 1978 movie Aaravam, which was directed by Bharathan. He became popular with his performances in films like Thakara and Lorry. Prathap made his directorial debut with Meendum Oru Kathal Kathai. He won Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director for that movie. He directed a total of 12 films in Tamil and Malayalam.

He was last seen in Mammooty's recent Malayalam film CBI 5. In Telugu, Prathap acted in films like Aakali Rajyam, Kanchanaganga, Maro Charitra, and Veedevadu. He married actress Radhika in 1985. They got divorced in 1986. Later, Prathap married Amala Satyanath. They got separated in 2012.

The South Indian film fraternity is devastated by his demise. Many actors, director, and other film technicians are paying their last tributes to the legendary actor. Even fans are paying their last respects on social media.
