Puri Jagannath seeks police protection in Liger issue
Director Puri Jagannath's war with the distributors and buyers is intensifying with each passing day
HYDERABAD: Director Puri Jagannath's war with the distributors and buyers is intensifying with each passing day. Now, Puri filed a complaint against distributor Warangal Sreenu for alleged harassment and blackmail. Puri also included financier Sobhan Babu's name in his complaint. Puri said that he is being threatened and requested the police to provide security for his family members in Hyderabad.
Recently, a call recording of Puri Jagannath was leaked online. In the voice clip, we can hear him lashing out at buyers and exhibitors who are demanding compensation from him for the losses incurred by his recent film Liger.
In the clip, Puri clearly stated that he decided only to compensate because of his empathy towards the buyers. "There is no compulsion for me to pay compensation. If buyers pester me like this, I don't feel like paying at all," said Puri.
In his complaint, Puri stated that Warangal Sreenu had defaulted under the Film distribution agreement and also the amounts that need to be paid to other sub-distributors. He said that Warangal Sreenu told sub-distributors he (Puri Jagannath) owes them the money and would reimburse them. He alleged that Sreenu and his men are planning to harass his family by holding a dharna at his house and office premises. He requested the cops to provide protection for his family members. The police are currently investigating the issue.
