HYDERABAD: SS Rajamouli, the renowned Indian filmmaker, is receiving widespread recognition for his latest film, RRR, which stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan. The movie has recently won a Golden Globe Award 2023, and the song "Naatu Naatu" is also nominated for the Oscars 2023.
In a recent interview with an international publication, Rajamouli cited two films as the inspiration for RRR. He mentioned that the iconic Telugu film Mayabazar gave him the confidence to make RRR, while Mel Gibson's Braveheart inspired him to create Bheem's song.
Rajamouli spoke highly of Mayabazar, saying that it served as a significant source of inspiration for him while making RRR. According to him, Mayabazar's language and the way it was spoken was unique for its time, as it used a modern Telugu language instead of a more bookish, classic language. Additionally, the film's characters used made-up words for comedic effect, which was quite daring for a film based on a classic text like the Mahabharata. The experimentation and boldness displayed by Mayabazar's cast and crew inspired Rajamouli while making RRR, which is a fictionalized story featuring characters based on real people.
Rajamouli's inspirations behind RRR highlight his ability to draw from different sources and create something unique and impactful.
