Re-Release Box-Office: Okkadu fails to beat Kushi's record
While we generally witness fan wars regarding first-day collections, we are now witnessing fan wars regarding re-release collections
HYDERABAD: The re-release trend is going on in the Telugu film industry right now. While we generally witness fan wars regarding first-day collections, we are now witnessing fan wars regarding re-release collections. It all started with Superstar Mahesh Babu's Pokiri and is continuing with his other cult film Okkadu.
Pokiri was remastered in 4k and was released in August last year. On day one, it grossed Rs. 70 lakhs in the Nizam region. Within no time, Pawan Kalyan's Jalsa broke that record with its re-release by collecting Rs. 1.25 crores on the first day.
Recently, Pawan Kalyan's other blockbuster, Kushi, was re-released in theatres. It got a massive response from the audience and collected a gross of Rs. 1.65 crores in Nizam on the release day. Everyone thought that Mahesh Babu's Okkadu would beat that record.
Okkadu's 4k version was re-released the other day. According to the trade reports, it collected Rs. 90 lakhs in Nizam on the first day. Though it opened very well, Okkadu failed to cross Kushi's record in Nizam. We have to see how much it will collect in its full run.
