Release of Shaakuntalam gets postponed

HYDERABAD: Just a few weeks ago, four notable films booked their slot for release during the Maha Shivaratri weekend. They were Dhanush's Sir, Samantha's Shaakuntalam, Vishwak Sen's Das Ka Dhamki and Kiran Abbavaram's Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha. Everyone wondered why these films opted to come out on the same day as it would affect the business of all of them.
Finally, two films opted out of the race. They are Das Ka Dhamki and Shaakuntalam. Official announcements of the postponements of both films were made today. In an official press statement, Shaakuntalam's team said, "We regret to inform our beloved audience that we would not be able to release Shaakuntalam this 17th of February. We would be announcing the release date soon. Thank you for your continued support and love."
As of now, the film stands postponed indefinitely. The new release date will be announced soon. It is expected the makers may release the movie in the summer.
Directed by Gunasekher, Shaakuntalam features Samantha in the lead role. Dev Mohan, Aditi Balan, Mohan Babu, Ananya Nagalla and Allu Arha played the other important roles in the movie.
