Legendary Telugu film director Kalatapasvi K Viswanath is no more

HYDERABAD: Legendary filmmaker and actor Kalatapasvi K Viswanath passed away on Thursday evening, and the news comes as a big shock to the Indian film industry. He was 92 years old. He breathed his last while being treated at the Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills.

He was rushed to the Apollo Hosital on Thursday night after he took seriously ill due to age-related health complications. The doctors however declared that he had already passed away.

K Viswanath began his career as a director with the film "Athma Gowravam" and went on to direct many critically acclaimed movies in the Telugu film industry, such as "Sankarabharanam," "Saagara Sangamam," "Swati Mutyam," and "Swarna Kamalam."

Sankarabharanam is one of the all-time greatest hits in Telugu that will remain special in the books of Telugu film history. The director's influence in traditional and commercial cinema is very huge.

He was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which is the highest honor in the Indian film industry. Later in his career, he shifted to acting and appeared in many films since the 2000s. He made invaluable contributions to Telugu cinema and society.

K Viswanath's loss is irreplaceable and his contributions to the Indian cinema will be celebrated in the days to come. Condolences have been pouring in for the bereaved family.
