YS Jagan condoles legendary director Viswanath’s demise
YS Jagan, in one of the first reactions, expressed shock and said that Viswanath ranked at the top of all-time great film directors in Telugu
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy besides a host of film personalities and prominent people from various walks of life on Thursday night expressed shock and grief at the demise of legendary Telugu film director K Viswanath.
YS Jagan, in one of the first reactions, expressed shock and said that Viswanath ranked at the top of all-time great film directors in Telugu. He said that the legendary director, with his critically acclaimed films, had not only won laurels across the globe but brought recognition to Telugu culture and Indian arts.
“The films directed by Viswanath oozed with values besides bringing reverence and respectability to the crafts of lyrics, classical music and Indian arts. Especially, the films he made revolving around pressing social aspects paved the way for transformation and consciousness. His departure is a great loss to the Telugu film industry and the vacuum he leaves behind can never be filled,” YS Jagan said.
He also fondly recalled the moment when Viswanath was felicitated with the Life-Time Achievement Award of Andhra Pradesh during the tenure of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy as the Chief Minister of the undivided state. YS Jagan conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
