HYDERABAD: Reports circulating about a meeting among the producers of Sankranthi releases, including films like "Guntur Kaaram," "Hanu Man," "Saindhav," "Eagle," and "Naa Saami Ranga," at the Film Chamber sparked rumors of a small film being pressured to withdraw from the race.

However, ace producer Dil Raju, who is associated with distributing multiple films in the Sankranthi race, clarified the situation in a media interaction.

Dil Raju stated that the information about the meeting being disseminated in the media is untrue. He emphasized that while they explained to every producer the challenges posed by the clash of five films during the festive season, there was no specific request for any producer to withdraw.

Dil Raju clarified that if a couple of films opt to step back from the race, the Film Chamber would ensure them a solo release date in January or February. Addressing the issue of potential theater scarcity due to multiple releases, Dil Raju shared that he advised each producer about the potential impact on revenues. He mentioned having discussions with "Hanu-Man" director Prashant Varma as part of these consultations.

Dil Raju added that by December 27th, the producers are expected to make a final decision and lock in their release dates. Despite the discussions, insider comments suggest that no producer is currently willing to withdraw from the Sankranthi race.
