The Hindi film industry is in a never-seen-before crisis. None of its big films is able to collect big at the box office. Barring Sooryavanshi, The Kashmir Files, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, no other Bollywood film became a hit in the post-pandemic era.

Recently, Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera was released. There were big expectations on this project in the market. Ranbir's stardom and Yash Raj Films' backing helped the movie in generating decent buzz among trade circles. But upon its release, Shamshera generated negative talk and is all set to become a colossal disaster.

This 150-crore budget film is expected to end up with collections of less than Rs.40 crores. This failure is now affecting Ranbir's upcoming magnum opus Brahmastra. This Ayan Mukherjee directorial is set for a grand release on September 9.

However, there is no anticipation around this film. The trailer generated mixed talk. Everyone opined that the VFX work is sub-standard as well. Even though it has other stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna, the film is failing to grab the attention of the audience. Brahmastra is made on a high budget and if it performs like Shamshera, then the producers will end up in huge financial trouble. On top of that, the film is supposed to be a trilogy. However, the fate of other instalments will depend on the result of the first part.
