Shankar and Ranveer to do a pan-India epic
Last year, director Shankar announced a film with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh
HYDERABAD: Last year, director Shankar announced a film with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh. It was stated that they will be doing the Hindi remake of the 2005 blockbuster Anniyan (Aparichithudu in Telugu). However, this film didn't go on floors yet.
According to the latest reports, Shankar and Ranveer will not be working on this remake but on an original epic trilogy. Apparently, they will be adapting the popular Tamil novel Velpari to the big screen. It is heard that they will be making this novel as a three-part franchise.
As per the sources, Shankar wants to make a pan-India film on a grand scale. Thus, he decided to adapt Velpari with Ranveer. Velpari has a larger-than-life hero, a heart-warming love story, life lessons and an incredible journey of the protagonist. As it has a universal appeal, Shankar felt that it would be an apt story for an on-screen adaptation.
This project may hit the floors once Shankar and Ranveer get done with their current commitments. As of now, Shankar is working on Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan and RC 15 with Ram Charan. On the other hand, Ranveer has Rohit Shetty's Cirkus and Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in his lineup.
