Talasani Srinivas Yadav opens Kalasiguda nala built to prevent flooding

He said that, by making water flow easily, many parts of the city would be relieved from floods during monsoons

HYDERABAD: Telangana Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Kalasiguda nala, built at a cost of Rs 20 crore to prevent inundation during monsoon.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the construction of the nala, along with the construction of a bridge on the Picket sewage canal on the Minister Road will provide relief from floods in the surrounding areas during rains. Recalling that Sindhi Colony, Rasoolpura, Minister Road and many areas of the Cantonment area would get inundated during the rainy season, the minister hoped that the latest project would serve the purpose to prevent inundation.

The minister said that the Telangana Government, with the initiative of Municipal and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao, carried out an extensive exercise and identified the flood-prone areas across the city. The government took up several projects, be it widening of the canal or increasing the height of the canal bridge under SNDP to prevent inundation during the rainy season.

He said that, by making water flow easily, many parts of the city would be relieved from floods during monsoons. Corporator Maheshwari, GHMC Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy, SNDP Chief Engineer Kishan and others participated in the programme.
