HYDERABAD: Hyderabad is all set to witness a grand tribute concert dedicated to the legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja. A tribute to Maestro Ilaiyaraaja and a Live concert by the Maestro himself will be organised at Gachibowli Stadium on February 25 and 26 respectively.

Hyderabad Talkies, the organizers of the much-anticipated event, met Telangana IT and Industries Minister Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), Minister for Culture and Sports Srinivas Goud and extended a formal invitation to them to grace the occasion and honour the music legend. The team also met Tollywood stars Megastar Chiranjeevi Konidela and Nagarjuna Akkineni and invited them to be a part of the tribute concert.

KTR agreed to join several celebrities to pay his tribute and honour the renowned composer, whose contribution to the music industry is immeasurable. The concert promises to be a grand affair.

Chiranjeevi too expressed his immense happiness to be part of this tribute. “It’s a great opportunity to be on stage with maestro Ilaiyaraaja to felicitate and be a part of paying tribute to him. He has been the music director for many of my movies and the numbers he composed were super-duper hits. I thoroughly respect our association.

“I felt so honoured as many of my musical hits are from Ilaiyaraaja and my film Geetanjali’s music went on to become one of the biggest hits in his music." Akkineni Nagarjuna stated.

The tribute concert will take place on February 25, one day prior to the live concert of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. The tribute concert will feature a stellar line-up such as Music directors Anup Rubens and Vishal Chandrasekhar, renowned bands of Hyderabad and noted singers paying homage to Maestro's extraordinary musical journey. It is set to be a memorable celebration of the legendary composer's illustrious career and his invaluable contribution to the world of music.

On February 26, Maestro Ilaiyaraaja will be performing live at the Gachibowli Stadium. The live concert will feature an ensemble of 80 musicians on stage and is expected to attract over 20,000 attendees to witness the spectacular event and savour the magic of his music. The tickets are almost sold out for his live concert.

During his last visit to Hyderabad Maestro Ilaiyaraaja said, he is looking forward to performing in Hyderabad.

“We have once again raised the bar by bringing the maestro to the city for a live concert to create a buzz in our city,” said Sainath Goud Malkapuram, Founder, Hyderabad Talkies, which is known for its legacy events including those featuring A R Rahman in 2017 and Arijit Singh in 2019.
