Vikram's 2-minute speech became a viral promotional tool for PS-I

Chiyaan Vikram is undeniably one of the most talented actors working in Indian cinema. We all know the dedication he puts into every film. But he is also a man of great knowledge. He proved it in a recent promotional press meet of Ponniyin Selvan.

Vikram was in Mumbai recently for the promotions of PS-I. Speaking at the event there, Vikram explained the legacy of Cholas and said that we should celebrate our history.

He said, "Someone once told me that we appreciate a tower (The Leaning Tower of Pisa) that doesn't stand but we have temples today that stand and they didn't use plaster. To carry this particular stone, they had to use a ramp which was 6 km long and was pulled up by bulls, elephants and people. All these were done without any machinery or cranes. And that temple withstood six earthquakes."

He went on to say, "To save the temple from earthquakes, they first constructed an outer wall then there is a 6 ft. long corridor and then there is a wall which goes to the top. That is why they can withstand earthquakes. These are the things we should know about."

"This particular king built 5000 dams and made a water management ministry in his time. He also held elections to choose village leaders. He named cities after women. He built hospitals and gave loans to people. He didn't throw money around but helped people to live with dignity. This all happened in the 9th century. At that time, America wasn't even discovered by Columbus. It was only discovered 500 years later," he further added. He said that we should celebrate our history and be proud of it.

This 2-minute speech by Vikram is now going viral all over social media and became a major promotional tool for Ponniyin Selvan. The film will hit the screens on September 30.
