400 banned injections destined for gym seized in Hyderabad, 3 arrested

HYDERABAD: In a major breakthrough, the drug control department officials, along with police, seized 400 Mephentermine Sulphate injections destined for a gym in Myladevarapalli on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Monday. Three persons were arrested in connection with the seizure.

According to reports, the three persons were identified as gym trainer Nitishm and his friends Sohail and Rahul. Acting on a tipoff, the drug control department and police officials caught the trio red-handed and seized 400 Mephentermine sulphate injections from their possession near Durga Nagar Chowrastha in Vattepally under Myladevarapalli police station limits.

The police are investigating to ascertain the origin and source of these prohibited injections and the mastermind behind their peddling. Preliminary inquiries revealed that these injections were mostly misused by bodybuilders in the gym. Unsupervised use of mephentermine injections is associated with increased psychosis symptoms and death from heart attacks in young adults.

These injections are given by coaches in some gyms to young people who come to the gym without permission from their parents and crave to bulk up their body through abnormal means. Taking advantage, the gym owners are selling the injections at high prices with the false claims that the users can attain good body shape in the shortest time.
