HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police have said that the killing of an eight-year-old boy, Abdul Waheed, in Alluddin Koti under Sanathnagar police station limits is not a case of human sacrifice, but is suspected to be due to family rivalry.

The murder was initially suspected to be a case of ‘human sacrifice ritual’ and created a sensation in Sanathnagar. However, Balanagar DCP Srinivas said that the initial suspicion wasn’t correct and pointed out that it was a murder over a financial dispute.

Disclosing the details, the DCP said that Wasim Khan, a garment trader lived with his family in Allauddin Koti in Sanathanagar Industrial Estate. Wasim Khan deposited money with Fiza Khan who was running a chit fund. However, as Fiza Khan did not return the money, there were quarrels for some time between the duo and an argument ensued between them on Thursday as well.

A four-member gang abducted Abdul Waheed and took him to Fiza Khan's house. Wasim Khan, upon realising that his son went missing, lodged a complaint with the police in the night. The police arrested the five accused after retrieving the CCTV footage. Based on the information provided by them, the police searched at a nala near Jinkalavada where the dead body was dumped.
