Abids police arrest two for stealing traffic signal batteries

HYDERABAD: The Abids police have arrested two persons for stealing batteries installed for traffic signals in various parts of Hyderabad. The accused are identified as Sheikh Azimuddin alias Azim and Jangala Maddileti.
Both of them, according to the police, stole the traffic signal batteries in Begum Bazar, Begumpet, Kacheguda, Langar House, Habib Nagar, Gopalapuram, Malakpet, Shahinayathgunj and Saifabad.
The duo reportedly stole 26 large and 48 small batteries, in all worth Rs 5 lakhs. There are already 11 cases each against the two, registered at various police stations in Hyderabad.
A case, under relevant sections, has been registered against them over the latest theft even as they were placed on remand.
