Mamitha Nayak (21) from Odisha was found hanging in her hostel room on Monday night by her friends
SANGAREDDY: A first-year M Tech student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad campus in Kandi of Sangareddy district died by suicide. Mamitha Nayak (21) from Odisha was found hanging in her hostel room on Monday night by her friends.
Her friends immediately called the hostel authorities and they, in turn, informed the Sangareddy rural police, about the incident. The police after thoroughly searching her room found a suicide note, in which she purportedly wrote that she took the drastic decision unable to bear with mental stress and that nobody was responsible for her death.
With Mamitha's death, a pal of gloom descended on the entire campus which in recent times was in the news for suicides by students who were unable to take academic pressure. A few weeks ago, D Karthik a second-year B Tech Mechanical Engineering student was found dead in Visakhapatnam beach. He apparently died by suicide worried about the backlogs.
