ACB seizes assets worth Rs 8.26-Cr from former HMDA director Siva Balakrishna, case booked

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) booked a case of disproportionate assets against Siva Balakrishna working as a planning officer in Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, and former director in HMDA.

The ACB on Thursday informed that the accused acquired assets by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.

As this is an offense punishable under sections 13(1) (b) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), searches were conducted at his house on Wednesday and 16 other places belonging to his relatives, friends and other associates.

During the searches, a net cash of Rs 99,60,850, gold ornaments weighing 1988 gms, and silver ornaments weighing around 6 kgs, were found in his house and other places. Documents relating to movable and immovable properties worth around Rs 5,96,27,495 were also found during searches.

The total value of the properties found during the searches was worth about Rs 8,26,48,999 as per the Government value. The market value of the movable, as well as immovable properties, would be many times higher than the document value. Further, verification of additional assets was underway.

The accused was arrested and produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases. The case is under investigation.

The ACB called upon the public to call 1064 (Toll-free Number) in case of demand for a bribe by any public servant.
