Cine Workers Association writes to PM, seeks ban on Adipurush screening in theatres, OTT
Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, was released on June 16 in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil across the country
HYDERABAD: The All India Cine Workers Association wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, urging him to immediately impose a ban on future screenings of Adipurush in theatres and on OTT platforms, claiming that the dialogues and script of the film were damaging to the reputations of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the group also urged that a FIR be filed against Director Om Raut, dialogue writer Manoj Mantashir Shukla, and the film's producers.
According to an official statement issued by the All India Cine Workers Association, "This movie’s screenplay and dialogues are clearly defaming the image of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. Adipurush's movie is hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and Sanatan Dharm. Prabhu Sri Ram is a god for everyone in India and no matter what religious faith one comes from, this movie depicts Lord Ram and even Raavan who looks like a character of a video game, with dialogues hurting every Indian in the country and across the globe. Actor Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan shouldn't have been part of such a disgraceful movie ever made in the history of Indian Cinema. Adipurush is a complete disaster of our faith in Shri Ram and Ramayan."
Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, was released on June 16 in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil across the country. Prabhas portrays Raghav (Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita), and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Ravan) in the film.
